This is a specialtie. It's from Alsace, a bit of land between France and Germany that has been owned alternately by the two countries in a tug-o-war battle that ended more or less sometime after Alsace voted to be French. As a result of this history, the recipes of the region are a fusion of French and German cuisine.
Ingredients
Thin and crispy pizza base
Onion (sliced)
Bacon or pancetta (cubed)
Creme fraiche (that's sour cream for you Aussies out there)
Method
Pre-heat oven to 180°c
Pan-fry bacon and onion together
Spread creme fraiche onto the pizza base
Top pizza base with cooked onions and bacon
Pop into the oven for around 10-20 mins until it's cooked to your liking.
Serving suggestion:
Serve with an Alsacian dry white wine. Bon appetit!
